Accessibility statement
How this site approaches accessibility, and how to report a problem.
Last updated 04 September 2026.
Earthas DNCS OÜ, trading as Ibi Malik, is committed to making https://www.ibimalik.com usable by as many people as possible. This statement sets out where the site currently stands, honestly, including the places it falls short.
The standard we measure against #
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA — the current version of the World Wide Web Consortium’s guidelines, and the standard referenced by the European harmonised standard EN 301 549.
How conformant the site is #
This site is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. “Partially conformant” means most of the site meets the standard, but some content does not. The specific shortfalls are named below.
We would rather say this plainly than claim a level of conformance the site does not yet reach.
What works well #
- Every page has a skip to content link, and the whole site can be operated by keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline on whatever is selected.
- Pages are built from real headings, lists and landmarks, so a screen reader can navigate the structure and jump between sections.
- Text reflows down to a narrow screen and scales when you zoom, without a horizontal scrollbar or lost content.
- Colour is never the only way something is conveyed, and body text is set for contrast against its background.
- Motion respects your reduced motion setting: if your device asks for less animation, the site stops animating.
- Nothing plays automatically. Video and audio load only when you press play, and every player has standard controls.
- The typeface is served from this site rather than a font network, so pages render the same whether or not third-party requests are blocked.
- There are no cookie banners, interstitials or pop-ups to dismiss.
Where the site falls short #
These are known, and not yet fixed.
Photographs have no text alternative. The photographs are the heart of the
archive, and every one is currently published with an empty alt attribute and
no caption. Anyone using a screen reader gets nothing at all from them. This
fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.1.1 Non-text Content, at level A. It is the
most serious problem on the site, and the one we most want to put right.
Video clips have no captions. The short spoken video clips inside a monthly capsule ship without a captions track, so they are not usable if you are deaf or hard of hearing. This fails success criterion 1.2.2 Captions (Prerecorded), at level A.
Podcast episodes have no published transcript. Episode pages carry a description and chapter timestamps but not the conversation in text. Transcripts exist for every episode and are not yet published on the site. This fails success criteria 1.2.1 Audio-only and Video-only (Prerecorded) and 1.2.3 Audio Description or Media Alternative (Prerecorded), at level A.
The monthly handpan recording has no transcript. It is instrumental music with no speech, and the page describes what it is in text beside the control, but there is no separate text alternative for the recording itself.
We intend to address these, and this statement will be updated as each one is done, rather than in advance of it.
How this was assessed #
By self-assessment, reviewing the published site and the code behind it against WCAG 2.2 level AA. It has not been audited by an external organisation. The review that produced this statement was carried out on 4 September 2026.
Content outside our control #
The podcast also appears on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts and other platforms, and each capsule may embed a player from one of them. Those players and platforms are built by other companies, and their accessibility is theirs rather than ours.
